Registration Information:
The full conference fee for the 2009 Mazza Fall Weekend Conference is $95
This fee entitles you to:

  • Attend six keynote sessions
  • Coffee / juice in the morning
  • Chances on many door prizes

Special Function Available:
A dinner with our guests author/artists has been planned for Friday evening, November 6, for conference members wishing to attend. The cost is $25.

Keynote Speakers Descriptions: 

Bob Barner

Bob Barner’s collage art is so very popular with the younger children that his books are in high demand.  From his home/studio in San Francisco, he has produced many award winning books such as: We Need a Bigger Zoo!, The Elephant’s Visit, To Everything and Dem Bones for which he won the Silver Honor Award, Parent’s Choice.. 

Steve Jenkins 

Steve Jenkins has written and illustrated over 20 picture books, including the Caldecott Honor book What Do You Do with a Tail Like This?  His books have been called stunning, eye-popping, inventive, gorgeous and masterful!  He lives in Colorado with his wife & sometimes collaborator, Robin Page, and their children.

Christopher Bing

Christopher Bing is a freelance conceptual, editorial and political illustrator and critic of the global burlesque.  His work has won numerous awards, including a Caldecott Honor award for Casey At The Bat, and has appeared in such newspapers and magazines as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post and American Heritage Magazine.  

Barbara McClintock

Barbara McClintock’s books have won numerous awards, including 4 New York Times Book Review best Illustrated Books, a Golden Kite award and 8 New York Public Library 100 Recommended Books.  A few of her over fifty books are: The Fantastic Drawings of Danielle, A Little Princess, Aunt Pitty Patty’s Piggy and Molly and the Magic Wishbone.  She comes to us from New York City.

Matt Tavares

Maine artist and author Matt Tavares has written and/or illustrated many books for children some of which are:  Zachary’s Ball, Oliver’s Game, Mudball, Lady Liberty: A Biography, Iron Hans: A Grimm’s Fairy Tale and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Katherine Tillotson

San Francisco artist of children’s books, Katherine Tillotson, loves to work in oil as “it provides seemingly endless possibilities for expression.”  Her books include, When the Library Lights Go Out, Penguin and Little Blue, Night Train and Nice Try, Tooth Fairy.
