Group & Individual Study Rooms

UF and Winebrenner students have access to group and individual study rooms located on the second and ground floors of Shafer Library. All are equipped with tables and chairs and the group study rooms include white boards. They are available on a first come, first served basis. You will need to stop at the Circulation Desk to sign out a key.  

Students using the rooms must comply with the Study Room Policy (see below). Failure to do so will result in suspension of study room use. 

Group Study Rooms: 

Room 9 - 3’ x 5’ white board, table with 3 chairs (may be used for individual study) 
Room 16 – 4’ x 8’ white board, table with 6 chairs.
Room 17 – 4’ x 8’ white board, table with 6 chairs.
Room 212 – 3’ x 5’ white board, table with 4 chairs.
Room 213 – 4’ x 8’ white board, table with 6 chairs.
Room 214 – 4’ x 8’ white board, table with 6 chairs.
Room 216A – 3’ x 5’ white board, table with 4 chairs.
Room 216B – 3’ x 5’ white board, table with 4 chairs.


Individual Study Rooms:

Rooms 208, 209, & 210 

Study Room Policy:
  1. Only UF and Winebrenner students may use the study rooms.
  2. Rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations are allowed.
  3. Study rooms are kept locked. Students must checkout a key at the Circulation Desk. University ID is required.
  4. The  primary purpose of the group study rooms is to offer space for student groups ranging from 2 to 6 individuals to engage in group conversation or group study.
  5. When checking out a key for a group study room, at least 2 individuals in the group must be present at the Circulation Desk at the time of checkout. 
  6. There is a two-hour limit on the use of a room. One 2-hour renewal is allowed ONLY during periods of low demand and IF no other student or group is waiting.
  7. Personal items or library materials should not be left unattended for any length of time, even with the door closed. The library is not responsible for items left unattended in the library.
  8. Every effort should be made to ensure that other library users are not disturbed by the conversations in the group study room.
  9. Users should abide by the Library's Food and Beverage Policy.
  10. Groups wishing to use the white board should only use library-approved markers. Markers are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.
  11. When a group finishes using a room, the room should be straightened. Please discard any trash, clean the white board, and return all library furniture to its proper places.
  12. Lock room when you leave.
  13. Room keys must be returned to the Circulation Desk. The key is NOT to leave the building.
