Roles and Responsibilities of Key Personnel

Role of PI
Prior to proposal submission, the PI is responsible for--

  • Notifying Director of Pre-Award Sponsored Programs of any planned proposals through submission of the Grant Proposal Internal Approval Form which secures internal approval of project from Dean and VP.
  • Adhering to all processes and timelines on the Grant Submission Procedures Form.
  • Preparing proposal and budget with proposal development team (including Pre- and Post-Award Sponsored Program Offices)
  • Working with Human Resources (HR) to write up any job descriptions for personnel hired through grant or to figure costs for salary and benefits of employees assigned to grant
  • Initiating appropriate regulatory compliance requirements (IRB, etc.)
  • Discussing with ITS any technology needs to determine compatibility with existing infrastructure
  • Complying with all university policies and funder's requirements
  • Sending a complete copy of grant proposal to the Pre-Award Director

 

Once the grant has been awarded, the PI works with the Post-Award Sponsored Programs Office to set up post-award functions.
