CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY STUDENT ORGANIZATIONAL CONSTITUTIONS AND/OR BY-LAWS
I. Name of the organization – what the name of the organization is going to be known as. II. A statement of purpose/mission statement of organization. III. Provision for at least 4 officers: President or Chair Organizational Leader according to Robert’s Rules of Order Vice President Officer to take over in absence of President Secretary Office to keep minutes of all meetings. Minutes should be kept on file for seven (10) years. Treasurer Officer to be responsible for budget and financial reports to be submitted monthly to Student Government Association (SGA). Also responsible for submitting books for auditing. IV. A statement of eligibility that the organization does not engage in discrimination in its programs, activities, and policies against students or prospective students, on account of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, martial status, height and weight, ethnic or national origin, non-disqualifying handicap or sex. V. Provide for financial cost so prospective members will know what it will cost to be an active member of the organization. VI. Provision that any advisor’s name shall be submitted for approval by the Student Activities Office before they can act in that capacity, unless advisor is automatically chosen through contractual agreement through The University of Findlay. VII. Provide for faculty advisor to be present at each meeting where formal action or decisions are to be made. (National Greek Fraternities and Sororities shall be exempt from the requirements of the presences of their advisor where a conflict of ritual secrets may exist. Meaning that, they may conduct official business in the absence of their advisor.) VIII. Provisions that all potential organizations are required to host at least one event that is for the whole campus each year (music/concert, lecture, dance, etc.). IX. All potential organizations submitting constitutions to the Constitution Committee of Student Government Association (SGA) must include the Ohio Revised Code Sec. 2307.44 and 2903.31 regarding hazing of members or the future code as it may change. X. A list of steps that club must follow to remove an office from his or her duties. XI. Provide a method of how officers are elected and how often, as well as a provision in the case of a tie. XII. A provision of attendance and consequences if rules are not followed. XIII. A provision that all amendments to the current constitution must be submitted to Student Government Association (SGA) for their approval before the revision can be implemented. SGA will then submit the proposed constitution to the Student Activities Office for approval.
