Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

 

The 8th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Walk & Program

The University of Findlay and the Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center of Findlay, Ohio, are partnering again to organize the 8th Annual Martin Luther King Jr.Unity Walk & Program to recognize and honor the contributions of this Nobel Prize winner and great leader in American History.

Who: We invite ALL community members to participate in the unity walk as well as join us for the short program.

What: Regardless of your age, race, gender, class, status or position, this walk is meant to symbolize the unity in our community. Following the unity walk will be a brief commemorative program, where food and warm refreshments will be made available for all to enjoy.

When: On Sunday, January 15th 2012, the Unity walk will begin at 6:00 p.m., and the commemorative program will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Where: The walk will begin promptly at St. Marks United Methodist Church located at 800 South Main Street.  Participants will proceed from the main church doors to Dorney Plaza for a short prayer and brief reflection. Participants will then proceed back to St. Marks United Methodist Church, where the Martin Luther King Jr. Program will start at approximately 6:45 p.m. 
 
Guest Speaker: This year our speaker will be Dr. Glenn Thomas Walter who is currently the President of Leadership Training Consultants, Inc. and was the first African American to serve as CEO of Columbus Works, Inc. a Central Ohio employment training conglomerate nationally recognized for its "Best Practices" in occupational skills development and training.
