Applying for Financial Aid

Federal Verification Process

The federal verification process requires that the aid office compare Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) data with federal IRS tax transcripts and/or other supporting documentation to confirm the accuracy of the FAFSA.  The financial aid office requests additional information from those students whose FAFSA's are selected for verification, and we expect students/families to provide supporting documentaiton within four weeks of the request.

When the aid office finds no errors in comparing the two sets of data, no FAFSA changes occur.  When errors are evident, the aid office will make the changes to correct the FAFSA data and resubmit the form for reevaluation.  If the changes result in a change in the student's aid eligibility, the student will receive email notification of a revision in the aid award and will want to review the aid package on line to see what change(s) have been made.

If students/families have questions about the verification process, we recommend they contact the aid office for assistance.
