The University of Findlay celebrates Black History Month with its “Remember, Celebrate, Participate” programming, presented by the Office of Intercultural Student Services (ISS).  

Grammy Award-winning pianist Daryl Davis will present “A Black Man’s Odyssey Into the Ku Klux Klan” at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Alumni Memorial Union (AMU) Multipurpose Room. There is no cost to attend. Community members are welcome.  

Davis, an African American who spent his early childhood in Europe and Africa before moving to the United States, will talk about his extraordinary journey into the heart of the Ku Klux Klan.  

Davis’ visit is hosted by the Black Student Union (BSU) and Students Embracing Educational Experiences in Diversity (SEEED).  

Community members also are welcome to attend showings of two movies on campus: “The Help” and “Pride.”  

“The Help,” which captures the untold perspective of African American maids who worked in white households in Mississippi, will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. “Pride” unveils the struggles that inner-city youth must overcome. It will be shown at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29. Both movies will be shown in the AMU Endly Room.  

In addition, a Black Heritage art exhibit will be on display in the main showcase of the Shafer Library from Feb. 13-29.
