Dr. F.D. McCarthy, an Ohio native, graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Nutrition in 1977. Michigan State University was the next stop, and in August of 1981, F.D. received his Ph.D. in Animal Science. Upon graduation from MSU, he became an Assistant Professor of Animal Science at Virginia Polytechnic and State University (Virginia Tech) where he remained until 1988. In July of 1988, F.D. joined the Technical Services Staff of Vigortone Ag Products as a Technical Services Nutritionist. He remained with that company until moving to The University of Findlay in December 2002, as the director of the Center for Equine and Pre-Veterinary Studies.
