Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences




The Department consists of 7 faculty members with diverse backgrounds.   Areas of expertise include such traditional disciplines as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, therapeutics, molecular biology, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics and pharmacy administration. In addition, three of the Sciences faculty are registered pharmacists and one is a physician. Department  faculty  teach courses in  pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics, and  share teaching responsibilities with faculty in the  Pharmacy Practice  Department  in  the integrated curriculum, which combines medicinal chemistry, pathophyisiology, pharmacology, therapeutics and pharmacokinetics. Faculty members in this department are also engaged in research/scholarship  in the areas of  molecular biology, nanotechnology, pharmacokinetics,  patent law and drug regulation.   

Members of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences support the College of Pharmacy’s Mission Statement by:

  • Active participation and playing  leadership roles in local, state and national professional and scientific organizations  
  • Contributing to new knowledge by presentations and publications.
  • Mentoring  student research

Our goal is to prepare students for active participation in their field as critical thinkers and life-long learners and contributors to the development of the profession.
